Water Heater Repair
Is Your Hot Water Not Working?
How Long Does a Water Heater Usually Last?
Do you know how old your water heater is? Did you know that the life expectancy of a water heater is 10-12 years? Keeping track of the age of your water heater can help you avoid a water heater leak, higher water bills and an unexpected cold shower.
Traditional tank-style water heaters contain an anode rod inside the tank to attract corrosive particles, which in turn helps to protect the lining of the tank. When the anode rod starts to corrode and can no longer do its job, the corrosive particles fall to the bottom of the tank and eventually destroy the tank’s lining. When this happens, your water heater won’t last much longer.
Tankless water heaters, also known as on-demand water heaters do not have an anode rod. While a tankless water heater can last longer than a traditional water heater, they do corrode and require replacement.
